Nursing Simulations Create Experiential Learning

Nursing is a high-demand career in our region, and our latest episode of Backpacks on the Go celebrates National Nursing Week by spotlighting MC nursing graduate Lady Tabi, now working in MedStar’s Emergency Department. Lady’s fluency in English, Spanish, Italian, Twi (a Ghanaian dialect), and American Sign Language give her extraordinary range to care for patients. Originally from Italy, she came to the U.S. in 2019 to pursue nursing. MC’s nursingnew window programs, from two-year degrees to noncredit courses, offer strong pathways for success. To all current and future nurses, thank you for making an impact in health care. And to our nursing department faculty and staff, thank you for your dedication to our students.

Cyber Attack Simulation Technology Empowers Students

The MC Cyber Workforce Accelerator will be inaugurated this Thursday at the Germantown Campus with partners, students, faculty, and staff in cybersecurity education. The initiative brings advanced cyber training to all 16 Maryland community colleges, powered by the BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range. This technology simulates real cyberattacks, enabling students to develop skills in detecting, defending, and responding in real time. It provides hands-on learning with access to top-notch tools, preparing students for industry and government challenges. This initiative aims to close the workforce gap in cybersecurity, ensuring community safety and providing family-sustaining jobs.

Jewish American Heritage Month

May is Jewish American Heritage Month and the MC Librarynew window has an extraordinary collection of resources to expand your cultural knowledge. MC’s Jewish American Heritage guide can lead you to books, podcasts, streaming films, and other vibrant resources that narrate history and cultural experience. I encourage you to expand your horizons by learning about a new heritage! Inclusion and equity can build belonging. The College’s Portraits of Life twentieth anniversary edition is going to print soon, a powerful tribute to our neighbors in Montgomery County who have dedicated their lives to ensuring that history is remembered. My gratitude goes out to all of them, and to art professor, Dr. Ken Jassie, who has used his expertise in art history to curate this extraordinary collection with empathy, dignity, and integrity.

With Raptor Regards,
